Michael Briggs brings more than 30 years of experience as corporate in-house U.S. lawyer and English solicitor, executive and independent legal adviser with domestic and international companies from entrepreneurial start-up ventures to Fortune 50 corporations to his private clients and alternate dispute resolution cases. His experience ranges from aerospace and field construction companies to telecommunications (landline, mobile phone, broadband services) to internet content and service providers.
Michael has successfully negotiated complex business contracts, including multi-national joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, national and local plant collective bargaining agreements, and international technology, intellectual property and know-how licensing contracts. As lead lawyer, he has negotiated, drafted and closed more than $6 billion of mergers & acquisitions and project financing transactions.
Michael Briggs advocates for and is committed to integrity, fairness and the success of alternative dispute resolution for consumers, employees, entrepreneurs, small businesses and large entities.
Michael Briggs has been an independent arbitrator since 1994 with over 300 cases. He is on the roster of neutral arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association (AAA) on its commercial, e-commerce, technology, consumer and domain name disputes panels and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
Michael was featured as "Arbitrator of the Month" in the June 2014 edition of San Diego Attorney Journal magazine.
Michael has been a mediator since 2007. He earned his Mediator Credential from the National Conflict Resolution Center (NCRC). In addition, Michael has served as an independent discovery referee.
Michael served as a judge pro tem in small claims court for the California Superior Court in San Diego County for nine years.
